Understanding your Benefits

This example is of a parental, non-birthing parent, who wants to take their leave of absence intermittently or broken up into separate blocks of time. You will hear this also referred to as a bonding leave, or leave taken to bond with your newborn. Because bonding with your child is not due to any medical reason or condition, the time you take to bond with your child can be planned based on the policy guidelines and your unique needs.

Bonding benefits (employer-specific, federal, state) can often be taken in the course of a 12-month period from the date of your child's birth. For example, if your child is born on 4/22/2022, you will have until 4/21/2023 to use your applicable bonding benefits. Each benefit comes with its own unique policy, so it is important to review your specific benefits when planning your leave.

To determine how the benefit can be taken, click the icon in the top left-hand corner of your screen, and then click on the Benefits tab in your LeaveLogic menu:

Or, click either the "Paid Benefits" Bar or "Job Protection" bar to expand details about that category of benefits.

Scroll below your detailed Timeline to the Benefit Sources table to read more about the specific benefit of interest.

Removing Dates from your LeavePlan

To find this Key Date, click "Change Key Dates".

Step 2: From the dropdown menu, select "Requested Leave End Date".

Step 3: Click the calendar icon to select your new "Requested Leave End Date". Select the desired "Requested Leave End Date" and then click "Update". Do NOT check the box to "Shift whole plan".

Step 4: Review your calendar to ensure it is updated as you expected.

Adding Dates to your LeavePlan

Step 2: Select "Add time to my plan" from the dropdown menu and click "Continue".

Step 3: Click the calendar icon in the "To" field to select the date range that will be added to your LeavePlan. The date selected will be the last date added to your LeavePlan.

Step 4: Click "Update". Do NOT check the box to "Shift whole plan to end on the latest date".

Step 5: Review the calendar view to see the dates you just added to your LeavePlan. You can also scroll down to the Benefit Sources table to review the updates that have been made.

To review the changes from your Timeline view, click "View LeavePlan".

Your Timeline will now show that your leave has been broken up into 2 separate blocks of time.
